Training

why does storytelling matter?

Two-thirds of the world’s population are oral learners. Here in the UK, the average reading age is just 9 years old, and 1 in 6 people are functionally illiterate. This means that telling gospel stories is just as important today as when Jesus himself was storytelling.

But storytelling takes an investment of your time, energy and confidence. Getting started and honing your skills takes some encouragement and support, which is why we’ve spent years trying to make this simple, ancient method of communication even simpler for you.

Although we are adept at tailoring our training to your context for your purpose, we have four main focus areas:

1) How to tell any Bible story

2) How to connect the disconnected through storytelling

3) How to develop your own parable-style stories

4) Here’s some we wrote earlier and how to tell them yourself

We can run live online or in-person sessions for you and your team, deliver training at events, and we have many pre-recorded sessions available when you partner with us.

who is our training for?

Everyone who wants to engage in storytelling to bring people together!

We want our training to be accessible to everyone, no matter what their literacy level or learning style. We will adapt to the needs of those on your team to ensure everyone feels included, equipped and able to share the love of God with their community.

international training

We have free spaces available on Missional storytelling and orality training for those working outside the UK or within the UK and working with those for whom English is a second language. Find out more here.
