Storytelling for Life

Truth Be Told is all about belonging.
Our intergenerational project will help families and churches to bring joy, hope and life to care home residents whatever the weather, in pandemic or peace.

How we’ve adapted to COVID-19

We want to actually be with one another, in the same room, enjoying a storytelling group, but this isn’t always going to be possible and we can’t let physical restrictions stop the joy and life of being family together. And so now there are different activities available to facilitate our purpose such as pen-pal style craft, Zoom sessions, car park groups and adapted face-to-face sessions. The activity available will vary from week to week depending on how practicable it is to be in close physical proximity with care home residents but you can be certain that it will be high-quality and worthwhile.

Family together

With the help of  0-4’s and their grown-ups, our Partner Churches deliver a whole range of creative storytelling activities to share that sense of family with care home residents. Our Storytellers use a special bag covered in pockets and full of props to lead their sessions and each week follows a different theme like ‘transport’, ‘animals’ or ‘colours’ and each story tells of a different truth, such as ‘I am loved’, ‘I am safe’ or ‘I am precious’. It’s always responsive and inclusive and fun for everyone, helping to promote cognition and reduce loneliness.

What People are Saying

“I heard about Truth Be Told through my mum and thought it sounded like a lovely idea – and I’m so glad we came. Charlie has spent the morning with a wonderful group of older people, making them smile and clearly enjoying their company. It will be great to watch him getting to know them all in the coming weeks.”
